Scent-A-Mint-Al

In the past couple of weeks I have had some really great, inspiring things happen to me and they have both revolved around my fitness.

The first thing happened last week at lacrosse.  We ran into some friends of ours while we were heading out to leave.  We stopped to talk to them and let the kids play a little.  I looked at the mom and told her how fantastic she looked, and she truly is stunning.  She looked at me and started to get tears in her eyes.  She then told be that my story had inspired her.  How she read my blog and decided to lose weight and get into shape.  I believe she was down 30 lbs from the last time we had seen her.  After that, we hopped in our car to go home and I cried.  I said to Ivan that that was the best compliment that anyone had ever given me.  To know that any struggle I might have had during my 3 year journey with weight loss, health or fitness was worth it.  Every drop of blood, sweat, or tears was worth it for that one moment that I had had with her.  I thank you so much if you are reading this!

The other phenomenal thing that is happening with me is my kids.  Simone is coming with me to CrossFit on Tuesday mornings.  She cheers me on, and everyone else, and seeing her looking at me and wanting me to succeed is an indescribable feeling.  I can only hope that is how they feel when I am on the sidelines cheering them on.  They make me want to be better.

That being said, Donovan was home from school on Tuesday and got to come to the gym and watch mommy too.  He was SO proud of me.  He drew me this picture that I will cherish forever.  It simply says, my mom is in CFC (CrossFit Calgary).....and yes my face really gets that red!

Everyday I am constantly reminded of how truly blessed I am to have such amazing people and moments in my life.

Updatealotapuss

Sorry about the lack of blogs, but man this whole going to the gym thing takes up a lot more time then working out at home.  Since Ivan got me my pass for CrossFit, I have been going 5 days a week.  I so so so love it!  It is a lot of hard work and the coaches don't let you puss out, so you are forced to push yourself as far as you can go.  Everyone there is so encouraging and great.  I can believe how fast I am seeing results!  I will post some pics, but as for today, it is my "day off" from the gym and I just couldn't be bothered to take a picture.

As far as the Paleo Diet is concerned, nope, not for this girl.  That being said, I am trying really hard to eat less gluten....even giving the gluten free baking a try.  I am also using almond milk instead of cows millk, and soy in my Starbucks....I am still totally off caffeine and booze.  Yeah for boring me.

I have gone up about 1.5 lbs, but I (really hope) think that it is due to muscle building.! :)

Cherry Popped, CrossFit that is....

Tonight Ivan came home with a three month membership for me to CrossFit for Calgary.  Now I finally get to play with the "big" kids.

As soon as he told  me the news, I was packing up my shoes and water bottle to head to my first class.  Then I stopped dead in my tracks, heart pounding in my chest....holy shit....I have to do what everyone else is doing.  I am not in the land of the beginners any more.  Simone get me the same pep talk I give her, "Mommy, sometimes you have to work through the yucky stomach part to really know how fun it can be.  You won't know if you like it if you don't try.".

Lucky for me, there was only four of us there and, one of them was from my intro class.

Simone was, right, I loved it and it was a great workout.

Here was today's WOD.
Please note that during my class today it was snowing, and all running is done outside.

Whoa Whoa Paleo or Woe Woe?!?!

Well today was the last day of my Intro to CrossFit.  I freakin weekend loved it.  I am in negotiations now with my husband to get me a membership.....it is crazy expensive, but I think my ass is worth it.

Being around the CrossFit Community, and yes it really is one, there is certain things that some of them they do.  One of which in a Paleo Diet.  As much as I would like to blabber and bumble through an explanation, I am going to cut an paste it right out of Wikipedia....you know it's got to be right...right?!?! (please see below)

Now most of you know that I have another blog, (www.whatthenashfamilyisupto.blogspot.ca), and it is mostly about baking.  I love me some cookies and cake.  I don't think I could ever fully embrace a Paleo Diet, but I think there may be a little something to it.  I am currently, trying new recipes without wheat, and there is some great stuff out there.

So maybe, let's give it a go.  I am going to try for at least one week to give a Paleo diet a shot.  I am not making any promises here people, but it may be worth it.  I may feel better and have more energy or I may binge.....place your bets now.

The paleolithic diet (abbreviated paleo diet or paleodiet), also popularly referred to as the caveman diet, Stone Age diet and hunter-gatherer diet, is a modern nutritional plan based on the presumed ancient diet of wild plants and animals that various hominid species habitually consumed during the Paleolithic era—a period of about 2.5 million years duration that ended around 10,000 years ago with the development of agriculture. In common usage, such terms as the "Paleolithic diet" also refer to the actual ancestral human diet.[1][2]
Centered on commonly available modern foods, the "contemporary" Paleolithic diet consists mainly of fish, grass-fed pasture raised meats, vegetables, fruit, roots, and nuts, and excludes grains, legumesdairy products, salt, refined sugar, and processed oils.[1][3][4]

Jillian is my girl!

This week my effing laptop died....I feel like I have lost my best friend!  I have all my workouts on it, my pictures, and documents.....not to mention Pintrest, Facebook, Google, and Beyond the Rack all at my little finger tips.  Oh Well.

Having to find a workout to fall back on, I got out my old Jillian Michael's DVD, 30 Day Shed.

I forgot how much of an ass kicker she can be.  The workouts are only 20 mins, but you feel like you have worked out for an hour.  It is a great workout and in a very small amount of time.  Really, there is no excuse for not working out, 20 mins, that is what it takes for me to check Facebook.

Hopefully, I will have the laptop situation all fixed within a week or so, but in the mean time, Jillian is my girl.  I will also try to steal my husbands computer more to get some Blog posts out!
